  Date: 6th May 2010

Leading Midlands’s niche criminal and business defence specialist Cartwright King has made another addition to its growing team.

Philip Bown is a hugely experienced barrister who has defended and prosecuted many high profile cases from fraud and corruption to serious sexual offences and murder.  He has 25 years experience working as a barrister throughout the Midlands and is a part-time Judge in the Mental Health Review Tribunal. Philip has also undertaken work for the Serious Fraud office and was the head of New Walk Chambers in Leicester until leaving there to practice in Birmingham in 1996.

Philip said “I am delighted to be joining Cartwright King.  They provide a high quality in house advocacy service and are highly respected in their field. The calibre of case they attract, particularly in terms of fraud work has made this an easy decision for me”

Michael Thurston, managing director of Cartwright King said “Philip is a valuable asset to the firm, especially our business defence teams.  With his experience I am sure he will help us to continue to grow and take on even more high profile cases.  We are continually responding to changes in the legal world; the move to towards fusion of the solicitors and barristers sides of the profession allows us to continue to put in place key people who will enhance the quality of service we give to all our clients.
