Leading Midlands niche criminal
and business defence specialist Cartwright King is merging with Jerman
Hollingsworth, a long established law firm based in Leicester.
Jerman Hollingsworth specialises in criminal, family and childcare
and mental health law and has twelve members of staff, including two crime duty
solicitors and two childcare accredited panel members. The firm is led by
Wayne Hollingsworth who will be taking on a role as director at Cartwright
King. Wayne will head up the development of the new family and child care law
department at Cartwright King and will work from both the Nottingham and
Leicester offices.
The merger
further strengthens Cartwright King’s position as a leading practice both in
Leicester and Nottingham, as well as more widely in the Midlands. The
firm also has offices in Derby, Sheffield and Birmingham and employs over 115
staff. Already specialising in criminal and business defence, motoring
law, mental health, immigration and professional discipline, the firm will now
add family and child care and are recognised as leaders in their field by both
Chambers UK guide and Legal 500.
Michael
Thurston, managing director of Cartwright King said “We are delighted with this
merger which came into effect from 1 February. We now have an opportunity
to practice an area of law we have not worked in previously and also grow our
crime and mental health teams. We look forward to working with the team
from Jerman Hollingsworth and building on our joint success.” Wayne
Hollingsworth said “The opportunity to be at the forefront of developing a new
discipline with such a forward thinking and innovative practice was one that
was too good to miss. With the constantly changing landscape in public
funding, now is an ideal time to merge. We all look forward to the
challenge of joining Cartwright King and becoming part of the success the firm
has enjoyed over the past decade.
