| Leading Nottingham based law firm Cartwright King are embarking on a sunflower growing competition – with a difference – all in the name of charity as part of the annual Vantis corporate challenge.
The business defence team have entered the challenge which requires participating firms to raise as much money as possible from an initial investment of £10. The Cartwright King team have used their £10 to purchase sunflower seeds, pots and compost, and have then asked members of staff both from Cartwright King and other local companies to sponsor a sunflower plant for £1. For this, staff also get the chance to assign their plant a celebrity name which range from Amy Winehouse and Barack Obama, to Lewis Hamilton and Dame Edna Everage.
The plants are cared for by the business defence team and entrants receive a weekly update of the progress of their flower, with its current height and a photo.
The winner will be the person with the tallest plant as at 1 September. They will be awarded a large sunflower bouquet and have their name printed on the Cartwright King celebrity sunflower challenge pot.
Victoria Rutherford, a member of the business defence team said “We wanted to think of a way to raise money that would get people involved and be fun too. This is a really good way of being competitive, having fun and also helping two really worthwhile charities, LOROS, which cares for terminally ill patients and their families and Rainbows children’s hospice which provides respite and palliative care for children and their families.”
