| Commercial: we act for both businesses and individuals. There is no public funding for companies and partnerships. At the outset we will provide a written estimate setting out precisely the work we will do and the costs.
Legal Aid: we are committed to defending individuals using public funding wherever possible and believe that everyone is entitled to a first class defence whoever is paying for it. We fight very hard to ensure our clients receive their full entitlement to financial support.
Legal Aid funding provides for:
• Free representation at the police station
• Free representation in the Magistrates' Court subject to means testing
• Free representation for everyone in the Crown Court with a possible contribution order at the end of the case
and means testing in 2010.
Very High Cost Cases: the largest cases will be classified as a legal aid VHCC – and only firms on the VHCC Panel can undertake them. We have been on the panel since it began in 2000 (first as the Serious Fraud Panel, and then the Specialist Fraud Panel) – and so we have been recognised by the Legal Services Commission as having significant fraud expertise and the resources to deal with large cases. |
